Ryan Reynolds, star of "Deadpool," speaks onstage at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday.

If it’s up to Ryan Reynolds, his Merc With the Mouth will have the most popular bib sold at Babies”R”Us next year.

“Deadpool,” the R-rated superhero movie that shouldn’t have, rocked the crowd at San Diego Comic-Con’s famed Hall H to rapturous levels not even “Batman vs. Superman” or “X-Men: Apocalypse” could manage. There was also an uproarious standing ovation, forcing an encore of the exclusive trailer.

Maybe it’s because the audience deserves a credit on the film.

“One year ago, some a--hole leaked that footage. You guys made the studio do this; you bent their arms behind their backs,” said a proud Reynolds, referring to the test footage from a few years ago that inspired Twentieth Century Fox to revisit a project languishing in development hell. “(Deadpool) inhabits a space in the comic universe that no one else will inhabit. It’s an absolute miracle that a studio let us make Deadpool â€" let alone a Rated-R Deadpool”.

The cast’s progression through the ongoing shooting process â€" including the best script the director allegedly had ever read â€" was enough to bring director Tim Miller to tears.

Another cast member, “Silicon Valley” star T.J. Miller (no relation to the director) said he would hug and rock the emotional director like “a little baby.”

Jennifer Lawrence is reprising her Mystique character for a third and final time.

“You should direct the next Hulk. (Tim Miller) would be crying the whole timeâ€"like a baby when he sees unbridled rage,” he said.

Reynolds said he had no problem being as openly mouthy on stage as the antihero he depicts on film is in the comics.

The panel also revealed the film’s plethora of furious females. “Homeland” and “Gotham” vet Morena Baccarin seems just the right match for Deadpool’s crassness (“She gives him lip right back and not exactly the talking kind”). Former MMA champion Gina Carano thanked the director for a character role â€" Angel Dust â€" that gives her an outlet to release her anger issues.

Newcomer Briana Hildebrand, meanwhile, has no problem hiding her past infatuation for her oft-fit male lead.

“I may or may not have had a huge crush on Ryan Reynolds growing up,” the actress said.

Hugh Jackman walks onstage at the "X-Men: Apocalypse" portion of the panel.

“I was her ‘Joey Lawrence,’” Reynolds quipped, before returning to his favorite subject: his fanboy love for his character.

“(Deadpool) is everything we loved about the comics. It’s the most faithful adaptation of a super suit to a comic movie ever, (doing) the best he can to annoy everyone around him 24/7.”

As for the studio’s other marquee properties, there was plenty of cheering left to go around.

“Wolverine” star Hugh Jackman didn’t pop his claws, but did poke fun at having to battle time as well as on screen villains in the upcoming third standalone movie featuring the most popular X-Man.

“Man, have I aged” he said. “I’ve got three words for you guys: ‘Old Man Logan’ (referring to a fan-favorite comic storyline featuring an elderly Wolverine). Read into it which you will.”

There was also insight into “X-Men: Apocalypse,” which director Bryan Singer said “takes place 10 years before 'Days of Future Past' (at a time when) mutants are accepted in some places, not every place.”

Of her character Mystique, Jennifer Lawrence teased: “I’m more Raven. She didn’t want to be the face of a world that already didn’t exist.”

And it was jarring to see James McAvoy with a fully shaved head, clearly much closer to the Charles Xavier previously played by Patrick Stewart in the first batch of X-Films.

“Full dome! It’s nice to finally pay homage to iconic look and pay homage to it,” he said. ”I don’t see him as Professor X, or Charles Xavier. I just see him as Patrick Stewart. I try to make a copy. Ehhâ€" I try to make him better.”

Nicholas Hoult, though echoed the thoughts of many.

“I can’t concentrate because I’m still excited about the ‘Deadpool’ trailer,” he said.
