One Direction is moving forward.
The fan-favorite pop group unexpectedly dropped a new song Friday morning â€" just two days after former bandmate Zayn Malik jumpstarted his solo career with new management and recording deals.
"Bit of a surprise!" tweeted band member Liam Payne. "Check out our new single! It's called Drag Me Down and I hope you love it as much as we do."
"Hopefully you love it, we're proud of it," Louis Tomlinson tweeted minutes later.

The new track, which is already available on iTunes and Spotify, appears to be stealing some of Malik's spotlight, as fans flooded to Twitter to share their excitement.
"Are u kidding? It literally blowed my mind!!" tweeted one fan. "#dragmedown on repeat is life!"

The band, which recently celebrated its fifth birthday, is currently working on a fifth studio album, due to come out in November. They are also currently in the middle of their North American "On the Road Again" tour.
