Diana Douglas, an actress who was the first wife of Kirk Douglas and the mother of Michael Douglas, died in California Friday, her husband said. She was 92.
Douglas died of cancer a little after 9 p.m. (midnight ET) at the Motion Picture and Television Hospital in Woodland Hills, her husband of 15 years, Donald Webster, told NBC News. Webster said she was admitted to the hospital about a month before her death.
"She was a truly lovely person and a really great lady," Webster, 84, said from his home in Sherman Oaks.
Douglas' acting career spanned six decades, with appearances and roles in television and film, including "Dallas," "ER," "The West Wing" and "Planes Trains and Automobiles." She also performed on Broadway and modeled.
She was born Diana Love Dill in Bermuda. She met Douglas while studying at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, according to The Associated Press.
The couple had two sons, Michael and Joel, before divorcing in 1951. Douglas was later married to Broadway writer and producer, Bill Darrid, in 1956 until he died in 1992. She then married Webster in 2002.
Douglas' last movie appearance was in "It Runs in The Family," which she co-starred in with Kirk Douglas, Michael Douglas and Cameron Douglas, her grandson.
