Thomas Beatie was born female but decided to undergo a sex change surgical procedure in order to marry his sweetheart, Nancy, legally.
Thomas, formerly known as Tracy LaGondino, had his breasts surgically removed but chose to keep his female reproductive organs intact, in hopes of one day having children of his own.
Well, Thomas and Nancy Beatie certainly had their wish granted; with the help of a sperm donor, Thomas Beatie has given birth naturally to three children, to date. His wife, Nancy, assists with breastfeeding the children.
Critics argue that Beatie should not be considered a man since he was born a woman and is just masquerading around as a male. However, the state of Oregon legally recognizes Beatie as a male and it has been reported that “his marriage to Nancy is official and the couple enjoys all the rights and privileges of typical married pairs”.

In 2008, when Thomas Beatie first became pregnant, he wrote an article for The Advocate, claiming that, “Hiding a pregnant man is like hiding an 800-pound gorilla. Nancy and I wanted to tell our story from our own mouths before it got out”. He went on to share his story with Oprah, Barbara Walters and People Magazine.
